Unlike traditional private equity buyers, we fully intend to relocate and devote 100% of our time to operating your business post-transaction.

Curtis Colbary, CPA
Managing Partner, Principal
Curtis is an energetic and passionate entrepreneur who has developed a strong track record of leadership, successful execution, and building long-lasting relationships.
His career has provided him with opportunities to work with numerous business owners across North America within a wide array of industries.
Born and raised in a small town on hour east of Toronto, Curtis grew up an only child in a blue-collar family. Growing up, Curtis was taught the value of a dollar and the importance of setting both long-term and short-term attainable goals. Through his work, he has developed a unique appreciation for a strong and dedicated work ethic.
A Chartered Professional Accountant (“CPA”), Curtis is a proud graduate of St. Francis Xavier, where he obtained his Bachelor of Business Administration (Major - Accounting) before attending Queen’s University to obtain his Graduate Diploma in Accounting. Further, Curtis is a Chartered business Valuator (“CBV”) student as he continues to work towards his second professional designation through York University.
Prior to founding BalowickCapital, Curtis worked within the global accounting firms providing mergers and acquisition (“M&A”) advisory services to mid-market companies across North America. During his time, Curtis specialized in financial due diligence and has experience working in corporate finance (sell-side M&A), valuations, capital advisory (capital markets), corporate venture capital, and audit and assurance.
Curtis started his career as an entrepreneur. Conceptualizing, operating and eventually existing his first two businesses (a brick-and-mortar retails store; and a private-label sports supplement brand manufactured in Canada) before joining the global accounting firms to further develop his technical competencies in accounting and finance.
Curtis is grateful of the relationships and extensive network of stakeholders he's built over the years and will continue to make this a priority as he navigates through the next chapters of his journey.
